2009 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

The associates of AimLoan.com have selected the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as the recipient of our 4th Quarter 2009 Community Service Website Campaign. For each loan closed this quarter, we will proudly contribute $20 to this worthwhile organization.

For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs.

Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure®, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.

My mother, Elizabeth Rose Herbert, lost her battle with breast cancer in 2002 at the age of 64. She was recovering from an unrelated surgery when the cancer was first discovered. She was not recovering from the surgery as quickly as she should have and she was actually getting worse.

Unfortunately, before she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the cancer had already metastasized to her bones and brain. By the time the cancer was discovered she had already lost precious time for treatment.

Within six months she was gone. My only wish is that she had discovered the cancer earlier to give her a better chance to survive it. Her last words were: "Oh, no, I'm scared." followed by "Wonderful!"
