2003 San Diego Food Bank Campaign

AimLoan.com is proud of its 1st Quarter 2003 Building Against Hunger Campaign. It resulted in total contributions to the San Diego Food Bank of $30,000!

No one should go hungry in San Diego. Millions of pounds of excess food are available from government surplus, growers, food manufacturers, restaurants, grocery stores and generous private donors.

Since 1977, the San Diego Food Bank has been working hard to get this food on the tables of people in need, providing food and services to more than 125,000 individuals each month. While this is a tremendous accomplishment, every year the Food Bank turns down millions of pounds of food because it lacks the space to store or distribute it properly.

That is food that could feed some of the tens of thousands who are hungry but aren't being helped.

A long-term solution is at hand. The San Diego Food Bank has located 70,000 square feet of warehouse space, located in a central San Diego location, offering enough space for the Food Bank's future growth.

A lease has been entered into, with an option to buy the facility, and the distribution of food to the hundreds of agencies that feed the poor and hungry in San Diego County will soon begin from this new facility.

Recognizing that the best option for the long term future of the Food Bank is to own the facility rather than paying monthly lease payments, AimLoan.com and other San Diego businesses and individuals are helping to raise the necessary $7.5 million to purchase the warehouse and central distribution center.
